Chinese New Year
Wednesday 29th January
Chinese New Year celebrates the first day of the first month on the Chinese calendar. It is also called the Spring Festival and is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays.
Each year is represented by a different animal, called a Chinese zodiac sign, this being the Year of the Snake. Legend has it that people born during under that sign have similar traits to the animal.
Big Garden Birdwatch
Friday 24th January
The Big Garden Birdwatch takes place between 24th – 26th January. Everyone can take part in the world’s largest garden wildlife survey, at home, or at school. The results, along with those taken from surveys in schools throughout this term, helps scientists form a snapshot of how birds are faring across the UK.
Our ever popular Birdwatch Brunch returns, with a fitting shortbread biscuit for dessert.
