Chinese New Year celebrates the first day of the first month on the Chinese calendar. It is also called the Spring Festival and is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays.

Each year is represented by a different animal, called a Chinese zodiac sign, this being the Year of the Snake.
 
Legend has it that people born during under that sign have similar traits to the animal.
